Bastian was born in Aarhus in 1992. He has always told stories, through music, acting and modern dance, and one still sees that those experiences are present in his screenwriting.
He finds inspiration in music, literature, art, and past experiences. His stories revolves around family, friendship, and relationships between people who long to reach and understand each other.
There is a sense of lightness and hope that shines through the seriousness that otherwise forms the basis of his stories. There are characters who say the right things at the wrong times, and do the wrong things, to feel right.
Bastian uses the film's possibilities to express a poetic truth about the special and absurd beings we are, when we are most pressured and we must let the mask fall. And with the drama as a driving force and a slightly playful approach to form, he tries along the way to open our eyes to our surroundings: the little things and signs that only appear to those who look.
Bastian works with both films and TV series, and has been involved in developing series at A Production and Sequoia Global Alliance.
